Introduction  |  Procedures for Joining the TALI Network
|  Criteria for choosing school principals

Every official state-run school, group of parents and local authority in the state of Israel that wants to promote Jewish Studies in the TALI spirit and adopt the TALI guidelines as a basis for their pedagogic work may approach the Ministry of Education and the TALI Education Fund and ask to join the TALI program.

The following conditions are necessary to join TALI:
A. The local school authority must agree in principle to the school's joining the program.

B. The school's Ministry supervisor must consent to the school's joining the program.

C. The school must become fully knowledgeable about the stages of the TALI program.

D. All facets of the school community (local authority, supervisors, administration, teaching staff, parents) must be involved in the decision making process.

E. The school must be willing to embark on a multi-year program, to be described below, until it achieves recognition as a TALI school.

The assistance provided by the TALI Education Fund (TEF) and the Ministry of Education is divided into three periods:
A. Exposure - This is a period of 6 months to one year, during which TEF conducts pilot educational programs in the classroom, and meets at least twice with the community (parents and teachers) to orient it to TALI educational guidelines. At the end of the year, parents, staff, municipal education department, and Ministry of Education District must agree to the school's joining the TALI Network.

B. Development years - three to five years - This is a period of intensive intervention in the school, through in-service teacher and principal training, and programming geared at developing a multi-year, integrated curriculum in Jewish studies, and creating a Jewish learning environment absorbed by the school.

C. Period after recognition as a TALI school - The school receives a certificate indicating that it has achieved TALI standards as a full-fledged member of the TALI Network. The school is entitled to certain services and to apply for support to various programs sponsored by TEF.
