Bar/Bat Mitzvah Seminar   |  Kibbutz Gezer Seminar

The Bar/Bat Mitzvah Seminar encourages 12 and 13 year old girls and boys to assume responsibility for acquiring knowledge of their Jewish heritage.

The objectives of the program are:
1) to dispel the myth that the secular Jew is exempt from knowing Judaism, its values and culture.
2) to open channels of recognition and understanding between different segments of Jewish society.

The seminar aspires to familiarize the pupil with the many facets of Jewish experience, so that as s/he becomes a Jewish adult, s/he is equipped with a positive approach to Judaism and will be motivated to learn more about Jewish culture and religion.

The Bar/Bat Mitzvah seminar takes place over 2 complete days and includes small and large group activities. Over the two-day period, the pupil participates in activities highlighting different aspects of Jewish life, including the centrality of learning, Shabbat, the synagogue, and Jewish values. This is achieved through various activity stations, each station representing a different aspect, and each activity demanding creativity and thought.
