The Genger Prize for Outstanding TALI School Principal -
The Genger Prize, named for Devorah and Shraga Genger, was established by
Aryeh Genger ‘to promote, cultivate, encourage and develop the teaching of
Jewish Studies in a pluralistic spirit, emphasizing Jewish culture among
schoolchildren in the TALI framework, and bridging the gap between the
religious and the secular.
The prize is in the amount of $10,000 and is awarded yearly to the
outstanding TALI school principal. Eligible candidates are principals of
TALI schools/track who:
have been in the job for at least 3 years
have completed the TALI Education Fund’s Leadership Course
work in cooperation with TEF and implement TALI principles in their
school.
In choosing the recipient, the Prize Committee considers the following:
the extent to which the school ambiance reflects the educational
principles of TALI
the program of activities that identify the school/track as TALI
special achievements of the principal that demonstrate leadership in the
TALI spirit.
The award ceremony, held annually during Chanukah, was established in 2001
and has been awarded to the following principals:
2001 - Barbara Levine, TALI Frankel School in Jerusalem
2002 - Nava Tal, TALI Ramat Moriah School in Jerusalem
2003 - Miriam Peretz, TALI Givat Ze’ev School, just outside of Jerusalem
2004 - Aviva Oren, TALI Mamlachti Gimmel School in Ma’ale Adumim
