TALI's Guiding Principles  |  Mission Statement  |  The TALI Education Fund

There are three Jewish public school systems in Israel: Ultra-Orthodox, State Religious (Orthodox) and State (secular) Schools. The State school system provides no trained Jewish studies teachers, no integrated Jewish studies curriculum, and no creative exposure to Jewish tradition, yet serves over 60% of Israel's school-age population. This has resulted in an educational vacuum which has contributed to the polarization of Israeli society.

TALI offers the middle-way in Israel for the study of Jewish tradition and the awakening of Jewish identity. The first TALI school was established in 1976. The TALI Network has been operated since 1987 through the TALI Education Fund, which is currently working in over 120 Israeli public schools and kindergartens, preparing our children to become future citizens of a democratic and Jewish state.

Currently the TALI (Hebrew acronym for "enriched Jewish studies") provides a pluralistic Jewish studies program to more than 22,000 schoolchildren and their parents in 700 classrooms throughout Israel. TALI's approach to Jewish education incorporates values of tolerance, inclusiveness, and democracy into a curriculum that nurtures a love for Jewish heritage and tradition.

TALI education brings to the classroom Jewish holidays and the Hebrew calendar, the Weekly Torah portion, the language of prayer and traditional Jewish texts, intergenerational connections through family education, Bar/Bat Mitzvah seminars, TALI learning communities and other experiential study frameworks.

The TALI Education Fund (TEF) is the professional lifeline for 750 TALI teachers and principals, providing them with the tools and training needed to create a Jewish environment for their school community of students and parents. TEF:
Supervises the establishment of new TALI schools, kindergartens, and education tracks.

Provides regular on-site pedagogical counseling for teachers.

Publishes textbooks and other vital educational resources.

Trains TALI teachers and principals through in-service courses.

Conducts family workshops and seminars to enrich Jewish experiences.

Places TALI rabbis in schools to provide a dimension of spiritual education.

The TALI Education Fund is authorized by the Ministry to provide Educational services and implement standards for all TALI schools.

As more and more Israeli educators and families hear about "TALI Judaism", the demand for TALI education grows. If you are interested in finding out more about TALI contact:
